Welcome to the London Borough of Barnet Family Services Procedures Manual which is produced and maintained in partnership with tri.x. This replaces all previous procedures manuals.

All Barnet agencies follow the London Safeguarding Children Procedures - which are regularly updated. Part A covers the core procedures and Part B gives practice guidance. Procedures can be accessed from the menu at the top of the home page and should be read alongside this manual.

In addition, Barnet Safeguarding Children's Partnership local policies, procedures, protocols and arrangements are published on the Barnet Safeguarding Children's Partnership website.

If you cannot find a specific policy, procedure, guidance or document on this site, please contact fs.procedures@barnet.gov.uk with details of what you are looking for and we will respond to you accordingly

Please see the 'Using this Manual' for details on how to use the online procedures. These are some of the key elements you need to be aware of:

• Procedures - this contains the main policies and procedures that ensure we comply with the law and statutory guidance when safeguarding the needs of the children and families we work with;
• Resources and Forms Library - this contains additional local guidance, forms, tools, and other information that supports and complements the policies and procedures in the procedures section;
• Children's Homes Procedures - this contains policies and procedures for our Children's Homes;
• London Safeguarding Children Procedures should be read alongside these procedures as they contain guidance for all practitioners on a range of topics including, Children who are Missing, Trafficked Children, Modern Slavery, Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Criminal Exploitation, and Radicalisation and Extremism and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM);
• The manual is updated on a regular basis, and you can register to be alerted to any change by 'Registering for Updates'.
