The Homeless Reduction Act
Scope of this chapter
The Homeless Reduction Act brings in a new statutory duty for public bodies to refer cases that they see who are threatened with homelessness. This duty comes in from 1st October 2018 and the public bodies include the following organisations:
- Prisons;
- Youth offender institutions;
- Secure training centres;
- Secure colleges;
- Youth offending teams;
- Probation services (including National Probation Service);
- Jobcentre Plus;
- Accident and emergency departments;
- Urgent treatment centres;
- Hospitals in their function of providing in-patient care; and,
- Social service authorities.
